Buy and experience locally. I like to support my local farmers market, as well as the local fish store, the library, and the mom-and-pop restaurants.

At walking speed, I notice completely different things. One of my favorite things to do is walk through my neighborhood, taking note of what kinds of flowers and trees my neighbors are growing.

Walking with a friend is good for the relationship, and friends encourage each other to go farther.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Simplicity Go for a Daily Walk
Fresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?

Walking not only makes my body feel better, it also helps me organize my thoughts -- or clear my head, if that's what's needed to get through the rest of the day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Work-Life Balance
Is practicing work-life balance difficult to do? How does it feel when you first begin? How does this feel for you after 21 days?

Work-life balance feels more natural to me than NOT having it. I've always found it preferable to disconnect from work during my off hours. My private time is very valuable to me.

    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

I try to keep bags in my car at all times so I'm never without them.

Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?
