I loved this challenge! There are lots of changes I can make and even small changes make a difference. Future goals are to start my own composting system and and still looking for a way to re-use or recycle the Styrofoam containers that I receive! I will find some way to keep the Styrofoam I receive out of the landfill or incinerator.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Whole Foods Diet
Michael Pollan states that "it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor." What are your thoughts on this?

This is such a true statement. If I don't take care of myself with healthy food and exercise, I feel terrible and eventually it leads to doctor's visit to try and feel well again. Prevention is key.

By being better stewards of environmental and community health, it will have a positive impact on not only mine own, but everyone's personal health! We can make our community and environment healthier for all people one baby step at a time!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

I found places that accepted electronics, paint and medications.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Choose LED Bulbs
Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

Driving less and walking more would both cut emissions and help us get exercise.

I am turning my large garden into a small garden and building a native prairie on the other half of my garden. I am doing this in an attempt to attract many bees.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community Express My Support
What sustainability issues are most pressing or prominent where you live?

I would say clean water and bee health are the most pressing issues.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Practice Gratitude for Earth
Kathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How do we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?

No I don't particularly agree with that.  For me it might be the other way around, strive to be a good person, do what is right and be thankful that I can help.
